Game thread: Alvarado, Daniels ruled out ahead of Pelicans matchup with Hawks

Who is going to drive the New Orleans offense?

NBA: Playoffs-Phoenix Suns at New Orleans Pelicans Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

A sprained right ankle will keep Dyson Daniels out of the New Orleans Pelicans matchup against the Atlanta Hawks this Monday evening, and potentially for the rest of the summer league schedule as well.

Jarron Collins will also be without Jose Alvarado, who played heavy minutes in several games with Puerto Rico in FIBA World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

Don’t be dismayed, this is a golden opportunity for others to step up. We know Jared Harper can score the basketball, but can he set up teammates consistently? Will New Orleans choose to run more of the offense through E.J. Liddell, who was accustomed to being the focal point at Ohio State? Or will Dereon Seabron, the combo guard out of N.C. State, grab the reins and attempt to lead units on the floor?

Either way, geaux Pels!

Who: New Orleans Pelicans (0-1) at Atlanta Hawks (0-1)

When: July 11, 5:00 p.m. Central
