Zion Williamson out for Pelicans matchup against Grizzlies

The matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies will be missing several important players.

Zion Williamson will miss his third game of the 2022-23 season with a right foot contusion, which he sustained a few nights ago in the team’s win over the Rockets.

One should not anticipate he’ll miss a lot of time, though. Williamson continued playing through the injury without any discernible hint of a problem against Houston, and Willie Green sounded hopeful that Zion could be available for tomorrow’s matchup versus the Bulls.

Meanwhile, Desmond Bane, who was listed as doubtful on yesterday’s injury report, will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a Grade 2 sprain of his right big toe. That’s a huge loss for Memphis as he’s their second-leading scorer (24.7 PPG) and biggest perimeter threat (3.8 made 3-pointers on 45.1% shooting).
