The New Orleans Pelicans are getting another scheduling break early in the season when they host the Portland Trail Blazers at the top of the hour.
Damian Lillard will sit tonight after a strained calf sidelined him for a few games. Although he did appear in Portland’s last two games, the Trail Blazers played last night in Charlotte. Many teams are taking extra precautions with players fresh off injury by not allowing them to participate fully in back-to-backs.
If you may recall, the Pelicans faced a very short-handed Warriors squad because they were wrapping up a grueling road trip and playing on the second night of a back-to-back in New Orleans.
While the Trail Blazers will be without several players (Jusuf Nurkic and Shaedon Sharpe are also out), the Pelicans are getting Larry Nance Jr. back after a one-game absence. He had previously hyperextended his left knee against the Pacers but was fortunate to escape serious injury.
