The New Orleans Pelicans franchise could immediately take a positive step forward later today with a friendly combination of ping pong balls getting drawn.
The NBA Draft lottery will be held tonight and there’s a 20.3% chance the Pelicans improve upon their position in the 2021 NBA Draft. Of course, there exists nearly the same odds (19.1%) that they slide back from their pre-draft slot of 10th.
Odds of Pelicans picking:

1: 4.5
2: 4.8

Unlike in 2019 when Zion Williamson and Ja Morant were clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the draft choices, many experts have labeled the 2021 draft class of possessing five All-Star talents at the top: Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga. Thus, moving up inside the top 4 would be quite the fortuitous jump.
Vice President of Basketball Operations and Team Development Swin Cash will represent the Pelicans at the lottery tonight.
