It’s no secret that the young home grown talent on the New Orleans Pelicans has not exactly set the league ablaze.
Among players attempting 7+ three-pointers a game, only Damian Lillard, Jordan Clarkson and Cade Cunningham have converted bombs at a worse clip than Nickeil Alexander-Walker to this point of the season.
Jaxson Hayes, who shined in the Nashville informal workouts and much was expected of him in Year 3, was recently struggling so much that he fell out favor with Willie Green’s rotations for several games.
Trey Murphy III has by far the least amount of experience here, so he should be afforded the most benefit of the doubt. However, considering the play witnessed in summer league and preseason, one would have expected to see at least a notably performance through the team’s first 11 regular season games.
Kira Lewis Jr. is the youngest of this foursome; nevertheless, it’s been disconcerting to see such a lack of aggressiveness and confidence in the majority of his minutes. His speed sets him apart, yet it’s rarely been utilized properly.
There’s undoubtedly other players who could have also been included in this vote, like Naji Marshall or Tomas Satoransky, but let’s stick to the aforementioned players. There remains enough expectations that each could still be a major core piece in the future.
So what say you, who do you have the most faith in recovering from the slow start and finishing this season on the highest note?
