Game Thread: Pelicans hope for different result tonight against Jazz

Will some strategic changes tilt this contest to New Orleans?

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Utah Jazz Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Facing the same opponent that whipped the Pelicans rather soundly on Tuesday, it’ll be interesting to see what Stan Van Gundy has the troops do differently tonight against the Jazz.

In hoping to prevent 21 made threes against their defense again, New Orleans head coach did reveal one tweak in pregame media.

"We would like to do some things a little bit differently on pick-and-rolls to try and keep our guys into shorter closeouts and shorter rotations than we have been.”

The Jazz have been playing well of late, winners of six straight contests, so it’s difficult to surmise a few small changes on the fly of having a profound effect.

The best thing that the Pelicans can probably do is just play a lot better across the board, right? Give supreme effort, sink more open shots and eliminate a good deal of Utah’s easy looks, for starters.
