Game Thread: Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis Jr. to share point guard duties tonight against Clippers

A rare opportunity for the two young guns!

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Phoenix Suns Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With Lonzo Ball (Bilateral Knee Tendinopathy) and Eric Bledsoe (Right Eye Irritation) both unavailable, the New Orleans Pelicans will entrust the point guard duties to Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis Jr. tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Both Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis will play at the point tonight,” Stan Van Gundy said in pregame. “Neither one of them has played any point guard for us yet this year. It’s a great opportunity for them. They’ve practiced hard the last three days and both have looked really good. It will be good to see them in a game. And then obviously, we’ve got JJ Redick, Sindarius Thornwell and Naji Marshall to fill out the backcourt, but those two guys will handle the point guard duties.”

Let’s hope Lewis and NAW take full advantage of this rare opportunity.
