Game Thread: Zion Williamson given green light, will play in Pelicans opener against Jazz

Geaux Pels!!!

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Minnesota Timberwolves Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Following a positive pregame warmup, the determination has been made: Zion Williamson will be in action tonight when the New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz battle in the Orlando restart’s opening game.

Despite the minutes restriction, this is simply fantastic news.

While Zion failed to appear in a single minute with teammates in the preceding three scrimmages, he demonstrated himself a gigantic weapon in 19 games. One has to believe that experience plus being able to spend a decent amount of time with the rest of the roster in training camp will prove beneficial. A few necessary adjustments may need to be made, but there’s little doubt New Orleans is a stronger team with him on the court rather than off.
