There’s no timetable yet, but today’s announcement gives rise to plenty of hope

The New Orleans Pelicans released a Zion Williamson update this afternoon!

While this announcement fails to include an exact timetable, there is plenty of positive news to gleam. Once again, we read about Williamson’s intention of rejoining the New Orleans team inside the Orlando bubble, but this time we’re also given several pertinent pieces of information that support the likelihood of this outcome.

Williamson has been testing daily and producing negative results while away from the campus. The importance of this fact cannot be overstated. Zion is actively taking steps to limit himself to a four-day quarantine upon a return instead of the much longer 10-14 day isolation period by going any other route.

In addition, the key words, “his quarantine period will be determined upon his return,” echo very much when not if Williamson will return to Orlando.

Look, if Zion had little to no intention of returning, it’s doubtful he would be taking the necessary steps to return as quickly as possible and the Pelicans certainly wouldn’t have worded their update as they did in their announcement and given rise to immense expectations.

I don’t mean to sound overly optimistic, but it sure sounds like the most exciting NBA rookie to grace the league since LeBron James will soon make an encore appearance this season. And if he chooses to return to the bubble sometime within the next four days, he could be ready for the Pelicans opening game on July 30 against the Utah Jazz.
