Well, that didn’t take very long.
In his first opportunity to nab a prestigious award, Zion Williamson was named February’s KIA NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month earlier today for his fantastic play. Zion averaged 25.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shot 56.3 percent from the field for the month, and there’s plenty more to be excited about, per Pelicans PR:
Among the rookie class, Williamson finished first in scoring while holding the highest field goal percentage among the top 13 scorers, third in rebounding and tenth in steals. The Duke University product finished the month with a total plus/minus of plus-57, the highest among all rookies. Across the entire NBA, Williamson’s scoring average ranked 11th, while his shooting percentage was the highest among the top 11 scorers in the league. During the month, the South Carolina native strung together four consecutive games with 25-plus points while shooting over 57-percent from the field in all four contests, becoming the first rookie to do so since Michael Jordan.
Lets hope the good vibes translate to New Orleans’ matchup against Minnesota. Trailing the Grizzlies by 3.5 games, the Pelicans need to quickly get back into the win column, especially in light of a contest in Dallas against the Mavericks tomorrow.
The Timberwolves have fallen off the pace considerably after a good start to the season, and this will be the first time we’ll get to see D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez in Minnesota uniforms.

Let’s geaux, Pels!
