Hey all, it’s been awhile since we published our last podcast — which was posted just hours after the postponement of the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings matchup on March 11th. Personally, it feels like we produced that episode well over a month ago, but we promise to start posting more regularly again, even if live action basketball remains months away.
First on the docket, Preston Ellis and I brought on one of our favorite guests, Antonio Daniels, the Pelicans color analyst on Fox Sports New Orleans, to talk about a wide range of topics including the coronavirus, what a restart to the 2019-20 season could look like if it can be saved and the hometown basketball team.
Everyone, of course, is well aware of the pandemic that has seemingly infiltrated every corner of our lives. Much of the population is thankfully heeding important warnings, but it’s troublesome that we still see or read about instances of bad judgement daily. Look, it’s important to not panic and hoard a number of essential products, but conversely there’s no reason to willfully neglect the threat either.
- Do not ignore the lessons of countries that have been suffering longer
- Trust the science, and more importantly, listen to your health and medical officials
- Educate yourselves so that you can better protect loved ones
- Utilize the sudden overabundance of time effectively, say tackle that long overdue to-do list
After a brief discussion on the possibility of finishing this suspended campaign. we also delve into the play of several New Orleans Pelicans on this podcast. The contributions of Derrick Favors has been a divisive topic among the fanbase at times, but Antonio goes into some depth as to why his veteran presence is crucial to this locker room. Many of us are in full support of New Orleans re-signing Favors during the next free agency period because he positively impacts winning.
Despite not appearing in 20 games together yet, Zion Williamson and Lonzo Ball are already one of most exciting young duos in the league. Listen to why we think we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg and why fans will be excited for years to come.
Lastly, we broach the terrifying examples of clutch minutes. Why have these Pelicans failed so often in crunch time? However, this section doesn’t end in despair as we provide solid hope as to why a turnaround exists on the horizon.
