The New Orleans Pelicans could sit just two games out of the 8th seed in the Western Conference after play tonight, and you’ve got to like the odds on their end of at least taking care of business. The Pelicans have not lost to the Cavaliers in the Smoothie King Center since March 24, 2010.

If the Pelicans beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have the league’s fourth worst record, and the Sacramento Kings knock off the Grizzlies, who have lost four straight games out of the All-Star break by a combined 71 points, in the next few hours, New Orleans will find themselves alone in 9th place and breathing down the necks of a reeling Memphis team.

As for what to watch for in the matchup against the Cavs, Zion Williamson is going for his 10th straight game of 20+ points. Only Joel Embiid (10), Donovan Mitchell (10) and Blake Griffin (14) have accomplished the rookie feat since the 2000-01 season. Also, it’ll be interesting to see if Kenrich Williams gets some run after returning to full-contact practice yesterday.

Geaux Pels!
