Game 56: New Orleans Pelicans with golden opportunity for good start out of All-Star break

That’s right, Frankie J. The Pelicans could go on a nice run starting tonight!

On November 19, 2019, the New Orleans Pelicans faced the Portland Trail Blazers without Damian Lillard and won 115-104.

While the final result wasn’t a convincing victory despite the Blazers missing their star point guard, realize that the Pels were without three starters (Derrick Favors, Zion Williamson and Lonzo Ball) and Josh Hart. Kenrich Williams was the Pels leading rebounder, Nicolo Melli shot more free throws than anyone else and Portland made more than their fair share of three-pointers (55.2%).

So, what’s in store tonight? This may come off a little crass, but I don’t care. Regardless of how they get there, it had better be a win.

With the Grizzlies falling to the Kings late last night, New Orleans inched a little closer to the 8th spot. If they wind up winning tonight, they’ll sit 4.5 games behind Memphis. There’s no better time than the present to grab a little momentum right out of the All-Star break with such a golden opportunity before them in Portland and then facing the likes of the Warriors, Cavaliers, and Timberwolves in three of the team’s next five matchups.

Geaux Pels!
