After missing the last contest against the Indiana Pacers, Zion Williamson, the New Orleans Pelicans super-stud rookie, is officially a go tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers. However, after missing practice yesterday, Brandon Ingram is a game-time decision as some swelling remains in his right sprained ankle. He wants to go through warmups before making a final determination on his playing status.
The key to the game will undoubtedly be Jrue Holiday’s defense on Damian Lillard. Holiday has enjoyed a lot of success in year’s past, especially during the 2017-18 playoffs, but Dame has never been in a zone like the one he is currently enjoying.
Over the last 10 games, Lillard is averaging 41.5 points, 9.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 51.5% from three-point range — he’s been averaging over six makes from deep! Those flamethrower stats have propelled the Blazers to a 7-3 record over that span, and had referees not screwed up an obvious goal-tending call on Rudy Gobert, they could possibly be 8-2 and a game closer to the Memphis Grizzlies for 8th in the West.
