Game 40: New Orleans Pelicans attempt to steal victory from Boston Celtics with numerous key players out

No Jrue Holiday, JJ Redick, Derrick Favors, and of course, Zion Williamson. Odds too overwhelming?!

Four of the New Orleans Pelicans top 6 contributors have been ruled out for the night’s contest against the Boston Celtics. No Jrue Holiday. No JJ Redick. Ditto for Derrick Favors and Kenrich Williams too. And of course Zion Williamson and Darius Miller remain out, having not appeared in a single minute of game action yet this season.

Heading into a game featuring a strong starting four of Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward, the short-handed Pelicans are going to more than have their hands full. Brandon Ingram is going to have to play like an All-Star. Lonzo Ball probably too. E’Twaun Moore, Josh Hart and Nickeil Alexander-Walker must provide solid all-around contributions. But the biggest responsibility will fall on Jaxson Hayes and Jahlil Okafor. With no Favors, they’ll be counted on to limit the Celtics to one shot, protect the rim and give help whenever a teammate is beaten on the perimeter.

Super tall order ahead!
