According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the New York Knicks are prepared to trade away the 2019 first round selection — if tonight’s draft lottery gods finally smile upon that franchise.
“I’m told that if the Knicks get that number one overall pick they would then shift their focus towards a potential deal for Anthony Davis,” says Charania. “With Zion Williamson, the number one overall pick, and Kevin Knox, their prized rookie who had a stellar campaign and really started to develop over the course of the season, they could pair up both of those guys in a trade for Anthony Davis. There might not be another team out there that has a better package than the Knicks if they get that number one overall pick.”
The New Orleans Pelicans have but just a 6.0% chance tonight of winning the coveted number one overall pick in next month’s draft. However, based on this new information from Charania, the Pelicans odds of getting the chance to draft Zion could figuratively be 20%. (The Knicks have a 14.0% chance of being awarded the first overall pick in the 2019 Draft.)
Um, yes please!
