Considering Anthony Davis was coming off an injury, where he missed nine games, and the optics of a trade request ten days ago, the New Orleans Pelicans were all set to handle AD with kids gloves moving forward.
Before yesterday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Alvin Gentry announced to pregame media that Davis would be held to a much lighter load than his typical 36+ minutes per game average. Thus, many expected the New Orleans Pelicans to hold Davis out in tonight’s contest against the Memphis Grizzlies after appearing in 25 minutes less than 24 hours ago.
Here’s what to expect with Anthony Davis’ usage the rest of way with Pelicans: Fewer, if any, back-to-backs and a reduction in minutes from his 37 per game.
