Game 63: Anthony Davis will be center stage in Los Angeles as Pelicans face Lakers

New, comments

He’ll be held to around twenty minutes of action, but everyone is going to be talking about AD.

For the first times since the trade request heard round the world, Anthony Davis will appear in a game inside Staples Center. Will the Los Angeles fans treat AD with more cordiality than usual, showering him with love for wanting to join the Lakers, or contempt because the transaction failed to transpire and in its wake left behind a disjointed Laker locker room?

One person who doesn’t care about the drama and has been adamant about pushing it aside at every turn is Alvin Gentry.

“It’s a regular season game,” said the head coach in pregame media. “It really is. We can make of it what we want but it’s still a regular season game.”

Expect nearly all onlookers to not share these same sentiments, especially the players. Everyone knows what’s at stake. The Pelicans would like nothing more than to personally drive another nail into the coffin of LA’s season. On the other hand, LeBron James and company need to start piling up wins as they sit three games behind the 8th-seeded Spurs in the West at the time of this writing.

For more on this matchup, please give Preston’s preview a read and don’t miss why the Pelicans still have to be concerned with the standings as well.
