Disappointing starts to the regular season continue to be a commonplace occurrence for Jrue Holiday and the New Orleans franchise.
Thanks to injuries decimating the roster, the Pelicans are once again looking up at the rest of the competitive pack in the Western Conference before getting to the month of December. With a 6-12 record, they currently find themselves in 11th place, sitting 2.5 games in back of the Phoenix Suns for the 8th spot.
What’s troubling is that after beginning to right the ship with five victories in seven games and several players producing consist good results, New Orleans is suddenly plagued by another losing streak. Defeats at the hands of the Jazz, Clippers and Lakers are not surprising outcomes by any stretch of the imagination, but if the Pelicans have any real intention of being a playoff team, they must find ways to post wins against a few teams ahead of them in the West. Fortunately, for them, their next two matchups on the schedule are the 6-11 OKC Thunder. Although they have a proven warrior in Chris Paul, can the Pelicans win both against a widely considered non-playoff contender? Perhaps!
