Game 5: Jrue Holiday returning to action will boost Pelicans odds of beating Nuggets

Still seems like a long shot, but a victory tonight would go a long way in righting the ship out of the gates.

NBA: Denver Nuggets at New Orleans Pelicans Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans (0-4) will look to end their four-game losing streak to start the season against one of the best teams in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets (3-1).

It’s more than a tough ask to beat Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, no doubt, but if you’re looking for positives, here’s three. First, Jrue Holiday is returning from a two-game absence (Derrick Favors remains out though) and should provide a nice boost to Brandon Ingram, who has been on fire since the regular season started. Second, expect the Pelicans to give their best effort to date, following an embarrassing loss to the Warriors. Third, New Orleans split the season series last year with the Nuggets, posting a positive net rating (+1.7) through four games and signaling they have a good understanding of Denver’s schemes.
