According to head coach Alvin Gentry just moments ago, Jrue Holiday (questionable with a left knee sprain) and Derrick Favors (right knee soreness) will not suit up and play tonight as the New Orleans Pelicans host the Golden State Warriors. Jahlil Okafor will draw the start in Favors stead and be surrounded by Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, JJ Redick and Brandon Ingram.
With Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the rest of their crew considered the worst team in the league — at least according to net rating (-23.3), the Pelicans might be catching a break of sorts; nevertheless, you’d prefer to not see the team be without three of their five starters against anyone.
Through three games, New Orleans offense hasn’t oft been the problem, ranking 6th in offensive rating. No, the issues have largely come on the defensive end. Opponents are averaging 126.3 points per game (only Golden State has given up more at 130.5 PPG) and 39.3 looks inside of five feet (only topped by Charlotte’s defense giving up 44.0 shot attempts from this range).
