With Zion Williamson out for the foreseeable future due to a right knee injury, Alvin Gentry is going to wrap up the Pelicans preseason schedule by taking a closer look at small ball.
According to Andrew Lopez of ESPN, JJ Redick is expected to join Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Derrick Favors in the starting lineup tonight against the Knicks.
Look for New York to counter with Dennis Smith Jr., RJ Barrett, Marcus Morris, Julius Randle and Bobby Portis.
It’ll be interesting to watch if New Orleans can hold their own on the glass and in the paint as the Pelicans will be giving up a lot of size at the majority of positions. If this group enjoys success in New York, we might be looking at our new makeshift starting lineup, trading defense and rebounds for more shooting. If not, then perhaps Nicolo Melli or Kenrich Williams will be given the opportunity when the season begins next Tuesday in Toronto against the Raptors.
Geaux Pels!
