Game 52: Can the New Orleans Pelicans summon another impressive collective effort, this time against the Denver Nuggets?

New, comments

Short-handed again!

NBA: Denver Nuggets at New Orleans Pelicans Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The Pelicans, fresh off a 121-116 victory in Houston last night, will look to go 2-0 in the post Anthony-Davis-doesn’t-think-he-can-win-in-New-Orleans-anymore era, but it won’t be easy. Not by a longshot. In fact, think of Thursday evening as akin to an episode of Mission Impossible.

New Orleans will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back, rely on another short bench (Anthony Davis, Julius Randle, Nikola Mirotic, Elfrid Payton and E’Twaun Moore are all out again) and welcome the Denver Nuggets, winners of five of their previous six games. On top of all that, Gentry is aware of the fact that Darius Miller, Jrue Holiday and Jahlil Okafor all played 37 minutes or more in the win over the Rockets — you don’t want to run these guys into the ground so quickly again.
