With Anthony Davis slated to miss at least this entire week’s schedule of four games, the New Orleans Pelicans find themselves in quite a predicament. They simply must turn around a recent poor stretch of play, three losses in the last four games, while without their best player.
New Orleans is 1-4 on the season without their resident superstar, and historically, it’s been no different as they’ve overwhelming of the time struggled without him on the floor. Yet, no one is interested in hearing any excuses for a team that sits 12th in the West and needing to make the playoffs — if this front office has any hope of keeping Davis beyond this season.
Appropriately, the grind begins in Memphis, with a matchup against the reeling Grizzlies. On paper, it would appear New Orleans still has plenty of firepower, but can they stop Mike Conley Jr., Marc Gasol and company enough times to escape with a victory?
For more on today’s matchup, please give David Grubb’s preview a read. Also, be sure to check out The Jake Layman Game and a nice look at why the Pelicans defense has been so hideous through the lens of a couple of 40+ point quarters by the Trail Blazers and Warriors.
Geaux Pels!
