Game 46: New Orleans Pelicans would certainly welcome another Davis roar and Holiday finger point against Portland Trail Blazers

New, comments

Pelicans need to start accumulating road wins in bunches. Grabbing one tonight would make for a great start.

NBA: Playoffs-Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Pelicans Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Did you know that since the calendar flipped to 2017 the New Orleans Pelicans have a sparkly 8-3 record against the Trail Blazers?

Of course, four of those wins came in last season’s playoff sweep, but the Pelicans are 4-2 inside the Moda Center during this time span. Traveling to Portland and escaping with a victory over a perennially good Blazer squad is a tall order, yet New Orleans has seemingly discovered a way to overcome the odds by stifling Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum enough with Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis.

Let’s hope that game plan still remains viable to notch another W.

With a 6-18 away record, New Orleans needs to start winning on the road regardless the strength of their opponent. Unlike the Nuggets several nights ago, the Pelicans had a chance to beat a fully charged Golden State Warriors team this past Wednesday. But morale victories do not count when sitting 3.5 games outside of the playoff picture.

Geaux Pels!
