Jahlil Okafor recently mentioned on C.J. McCollum’s podcast that he’s excited to join the New Orleans Pelicans and he’s taken all of the right steps this offseason to revitalize his career. On a more individual note, Okafor also said that he’s looking forward to teaming up and learning from MVP-candidate Anthony Davis.
“He’s always been like a mark for me to look at,” stated Okafor. “He’s not too much older than me, but a role model in the sense of just the success he’s had and he’s always done everything the right way. So, I’m excited to be able to team up with him and be with him on a day-to-day basis.”
Judging by several social media accounts, it looks like Davis and Okafor are well on their way to forging something possibly more meaningful than just possessing the ability to call each other new teammates.
A few days ago, Jahlil took a picture of an Anthony Davis display inside a store, writing a fun “Hey buddy @antdavis23” message on an Instagram story.
Then yesterday, the duo was seen together at Beyonce and Jay-Z’s On the Run II show inside the Superdome. Although numerous New Orleans Pelicans members were in attendance — Julius Randle, Jrue Holiday and Cheick Diallo, to name a few, Davis and Okafor were practically rubbing shoulders.

Anthony Davis bonding with new teammates is a wonderful sight as studies have shown numerous positives can stem from building camaraderie and a sense of family within an organization.
As for Okafor, one continues to get the sense that Jahlil really is all in with the Pelicans, and you’ve got to believe that making the regular season roster is all but a formality for him at this point.
