One year ago, the Pelicans appeared in but one preseason home game at the Smoothie King Center, and none of the exhibitions were scheduled to televise on Fox Sports New Orleans. This coming fall? Same thing!

All five games against Eastern Conference opponents — did you catch nothing versus Western adversaries — will be available over the airwaves on WRNO 99.5 FM, but it’s mildly disappointing the Pelicans television flagship will not be participating in any of the broadcasts. That said, there’s a very good chance you’ll be able to watch the games elsewhere. For instance, matchups against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Chicago Bulls one year ago were made available on the Pelicans app and another date with the Bulls aired on NBA League Pass courtesy of Chicago’s feed.
Besides the names of most of the opponents, the only real differences from the last preseason are the facts that New Orleans will play an additional exhibition game this year and there are surprisingly several back-to-backs on the schedule. Naturally, the expectation should be that Alvin Gentry will careful monitor the minutes of his key rotation players more than usual, perhaps even sitting Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday and other starters in one or both halves of the back-to-backs.
