With millions of dollars at stake, Las Vegas oddsmakers get things right more often than most. That’s why it’s interesting to note that the New Orleans Pelicans have been tagged as 1.5 favorites against the Detroit Pistons today.
Everyone is fully aware of the Pelicans woes away from home this year as they sport a 3-10 record, yet apparently, it’s not a large enough red flag to deter Vegas. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the New Orleans has won 11 of their last 12 meetings with Detroit. Or that Anthony Davis always cooks against the Pistons.
In ten career games against the Detroit Pistons, Anthony Davis is averaging 30.4 points per game on a steroid-filled 58.6 FG%/41.2 3PT%/90.8 FT% shooting line. Oh and New Orleans has lost but once in those ten tries.

(Nope, don't believe in jinxes.)
Whatever the reasoning, the only thing we truly should care about is the end result. The Pelicans sit 12th in a stacked Western Conference, and they need to start finding ways to win on the road. Good teams take care of business at home, but they also need to win their fair share of games away from friendly confines.
