Game 26: Nikola Mirotic remains sidelined as New Orleans Pelicans face Dallas Mavericks

Dallas is playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Can New Orleans take advantage?

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Pelicans Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans will tip-off against the Dallas Mavericks in less than an hour’s time, and they’ll remain short-handed. In addition to missing Elfrid Payton (finger), Alvin Gentry will be without another starter, Nikola Mirotic (illness).

Apparently, Niko’s got one of the bad strains of the flu! In his place, Julius Randle will start once more, and Gentry said that he expects Cheick Diallo will get some run tonight. In Monday’s loss to the Clippers, the head coach went with an eight-man rotation which only included Darius Miller, Solomon Hill and Wesley Johnson off the bench.

For Dallas, Dennis Smith Jr. is listed as questionable (right wrist sprain) and Luka Doncic as probable (left arm contusion). However, both Mavericks played in yesterday’s 111-102 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Let’s geaux, Pels!
