Game 17: New Orleans Pelicans solid favorites over San Antonio Spurs

And they’re fresh off a win over the Golden State Warriors!

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at San Antonio Spurs Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Half a game separates the New Orleans Pelicans from the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference standings, but you wouldn’t know it by checking out today’s Las Vegas spread of 7.5 points.

The Pels took three of four games from the Spurs last season, but that’s an anomaly according to prior history. Moreover, we’ve all heard the tales of how Gregg Popovich could coach a team full of G League players to a .500 record.

Anyways, Anthony Davis and crew will have to contend with a team that knocked off the Golden State Warriors approximately 24 hours ago. Yeah, they’ve been off of late, but Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson aren’t exactly chopped liver. DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points and LaMarcus Aldridge went for 22, 12 and six against the Pelicans in their November 3rd matchup, and the Spurs can usually count on production from Patty Mills, Marco Belinelli and others.

For more on tonight’s game, give Chris’ preview a read. Also, don’t miss Travis’ Jrue Holiday article and Trevor’s solid analysis calling for better defensive starts by the Pelicans.
