The New Orleans Pelicans (6-6) will put their two-game winning streak on the line against the Toronto Raptors (12-1) on Monday evening. However, unlike in their first two matchups against Eastern Conference teams earlier on the schedule, the Kawhi Leonard-led group is tops in the whole league while the Pels are coming in wounded and sporting a 1-5 road record.
Nikola Mirotic was expected to return to action for Alvin Gentry, but he has been ruled out, along with Elfrid Payton, who will miss his seventh straight contest.
Mirotic is missing his second game in a row due to an ankle sprain, but he was probable to play earlier in the day — so his return is close. On the other hand, Elfird hasn’t played in over two weeks (not since an October 27th loss to the Utah Jazz) despite being listed as day-to-day immediately following his injury.
