In theory, tonight’s matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors is just one game out of 82 on the schedule. In reality, it’s much bigger than that and for a wide range of reasons!
Undoubtedly, playing the world champs is fun and a great litmus test. Having Anthony Davis return to action — it sounds like he’s good to go — gives New Orleans a puncher’s chance against the best in the land. Oh, and did you hear about DeMarcus Cousins issuing a challenge to his new teammates, ‘Beat the Pelicans for me!?’
Damian Jones said that DeMarcus Cousins made it pretty clear during shootaround that he REALLY wants the Warriors to get a win over his former team, the Pelicans, tonight.

You see, Boogie remains unhappy with the New Orleans Pelicans franchise and a lot of his angst is pointed at Dell Demps and the rest of the front office for not re-signing him to a big contract this past offseason. Twitter likes cannot tell a lie!
