The New Orleans Pelicans will look to keep their perfect record intact on Saturday night, but the task will not be an easy one. The Utah Jazz, winners of seven of the past eight matchups against the Pelicans, are in town, plus New Orleans has a slew of injury concerns.
Darius Miller has already been ruled and is listed as day-to-day after a collision with a Nets player on Friday. Similar to the last few games, Julius Randle is probable to play as he continues to deal with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
Obviously, the biggest news is the status of Anthony Davis, as he was listed as questionable prior to the game and then Alvin Gentry acknowledged the status would remain unchanged until AD had a chance to go through warm ups to test his right elbow. Davis reportedly injured himself at some point during last night’s contest against the Nets, but he didn’t start to experience noticeable problems until he got home.
That said, as it was announced just moments ago, Anthony Davis WILL NOT play tonight. Look for Jahlil Okafor to be given a nice opportunity and Julius Randle and Nikola Mirotic will carry a heavier burden as both will be in the starting lineup and be asked to square off against Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors at tip-off.
