The New Orleans Pelicans (0-1) will battle the Atlanta Hawks (0-0) tonight inside Georgia Tech’s McCamish Pavilion. The preseason game is expected to tip-off at 6:30 p.m. Central and will be available to viewers living within a 75-mile radius of the Smoothie King Center at this link.
Per the game notes, Jahlil Okafor (Ankle) will miss the contest alongside Darius Miller (Biceps), Nikola Mirotic (Achilles) and Alexis Ajinca (Quad).
Three things to watch:
- Cheick Diallo/Brandon McCoy. With Okafor, Mirotic and Ajinca all expected to be out, these two should see plenty of action. As mentioned in the Bulls recap, Diallo was too invisible for my liking so lets hope Diallo can show a lot more against the Hawks. Also, it’ll be interesting to see if McCoy can provide solid minutes after a stellar freshman season at UNLV.
- Improved rhythm on both ends of the floor among the starters. The flow was mixed last night and the defense too spotty. Just a step in the right direction would set a nice tone for a string of upcoming practices this week.
- Solomon Hill. Hill finished with three points, three rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes. All five of his shot attempts came from outside the arc, and obviously, he only converted one. The Pelicans are hoping for greater production than that this season.
