Rookie hazing has probably been around nearly as long as the NBA itself, and I’m sure the average fan remembers some of the stories. Fresh faces to the league have been asked to go buy pizza in the middle night, get bagels, doughnuts or coffee early in the mornings, or just be responsible for carrying the bags of veterans.
Among the more famous instances over the last ten years include Blake Griffin wearing a pink Dora the Explorer backpack out in public and Jason Thompson’s Escalade getting filled with popcorn after failing to handle his important rookie duties.
There are times when rookies are asked to wear a particular outfit. For instance, Richard Jefferson had Kay Felder dress up as “The World’s Tallest Oompa Loompa” a few years back. Most recently, Aaron Holiday wore a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume and sang some Backstreet Boys.

Not to be left out, the New Orleans Pelicans decided to give their rookies a little grief yesterday. Look at Frank Jackson, Garlon Green, Kenrich Williams, Trevon Bluiett and Brandon McCoy pose for Jrue Holiday, who posted the following picture on his Instagram account.

Haha! Curious about who orchestrated the shenanigans though? Anthony Davis is to blame, at least according to teammate Jahlil Okafor.

If so, well done, AD, and thanks for being good sports, rooks!
