The New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets are both entering Friday’s matchup with 8-3 records here in the month of January, yet many would probably vote Houston the favorite. After all, they are 19-0 with James Harden, Chris Paul, and Clint Capela in the lineup, and all three Rockets are expected to play against the Pelicans.
It’s three-point bombs vs points in the paint...or at least we can hope that New Orleans decides to play to their strengths and not avidly try to repeat their last shooting performance against Houston where they knocked down 18-33 from deep. Having Anthony Davis in the lineup should help matters — he missed the December 11 game — as well as the Pelicans new found confidence. They’ve won 6 of their last 7, and more importantly, they’re exhibiting an ability to close out games.
Locked on Rockets Host Ben DuBose joins Preston and I to drop some predictions as well as talk about CP3’s All-Star snub, Harden’s health and everything else we need to know about the Houston Rockets.
The Pelicans look like a completely different team than the one witnessed during the month of December. They’re winning, yet outside shots aren’t dropping, but opponents are being held to 44% shooting from the floor.
What is happening?!
Join Kevin, Preston and I to discuss the reasons for the defensive improvements, an ability to finally close out games and why Jrue Holiday has become such a confident player in the league again.
In addition, we seek solutions to the third quarter horrors, advocating for both a possible change to the starting lineup as well as the organization just needing to improve the team’s depth. Yes, we hint at some trade targets and add a few new names to the list.
