Two weeks into free agency and the New Orleans Pelicans are finally one of the most prominent teams mentioned in the rumor mill.
The Pelicans have been interested in adding a ball handler nearly as much as a shooter this offseason, but with the trade market proving unfruitful thus far, the front office may be forced to sign one of the remaining lower tiered free agents. Case in point, Dell Demps and Alvin Gentry flew out to Louisville yesterday to meet personally with Rajon Rondo and reportedly the meeting went well.
Listen to Preston, Zach and Jonny list all the pros and cons of Rondo, but also why the characteristics may not be as important as you think simply because of DeMarcus Cousins’ presence on the roster.
The trio also took a look at the potential four team trade that was centered around Carmelo Anthony and Ryan Anderson. Even if these talks get revisited, don’t expect New Orleans could improve immensely from any agreed deal — there’s a lot of bad contracts that sound likely to be on the move.
