As most of us are aware, Jackson comes with baggage. He hasn’t been a locker room favorite in his stops in OKC and Detroit. Stan Van Gundy has looked to trade him seemingly shortly after signing a 5-year $80 million contract. However, there is no denying Jackson exhibits certain characteristics which make him tantalizing for this Pelicans team, namely an ability to score and operate in pick and rolls.
Listen to our takes, which are probably in the minority, because we’re interested in the talent of Jackson and hoping for the rest to work itself out — both concerns over the health of his knee and his fit. Obviously any player that might be attainable for the Pelicans at this juncture is going to be flawed. Yet as David pointed out late last night, beggars may not be able to be choosers.
The second portion of the podcast focuses on the ongoing summer league games. Charles gives a firsthand account of all the notable things he’s seen, including a take on whether we’ll see Cheick Diallo take the court again in this exhibition tournament.
