Take a deep breath Pelicans fans.
After losing out on free agent swingman Nick “Swaggy P” Young to the defending champs, New Orleans Pelicans fans and media alike saw the trade market as the only means of improving the team.
Enter Reggie Jackson?
Sources: Pistons and Pelicans have discussed a potential trade of Reggie Jackson for E'Twaun Moore and Alexis Ajinca. Full story coming soon— Michael Scotto (@MikeAScotto) July 11, 2017
The move should benefit both clubs. The Pistons are desperate to rid themselves of the former Eagle and shed salary after acquiring future payday, Avery Bradley. With Andre Drummond on a max contract while Jon Leuer (wait, really?) and Tobias Harris are paid seven figures, it was time to cut bait with the plummeting out of favor Jackson.
The ball dominant point man is hardly the candidate most fans will want to see in New Orleans, but at his ceiling has the potential to be a dynamic handler and scorer.
When Russell Westbrook famously tore his meniscus in his altercation with Patrick Beverley in 2013, Jackson finished the playoffs in his place with an impressive 15 points, five assists, and five rebounds, helping in the series clincher against the Rockets as well as the lone victory against the Grizzlies in round two.
After a three team trade brought him to Detroit, Jackson signed a rich five year $80 million dollar deal before being mocked by the hilariously underpaid John Wall. However, Jackson ssh’d some naysayers by putting up identical numbers post payday.
Worth every penny?
