2017 NBA Draft Rumors Open Thread: Trade and draft rumors plus other speculation

New, comments

Will the New Orleans Pelicans be pulled into the fray?

At this moment, Kristaps Porzingis name is being connected to the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics, the San Antonio Spurs are eagerly looking to offload LaMarcus Aldridge and the Cleveland Cavaliers don’t seem any closer to making either Paul George or Jimmy Butler a reality.

More relevant to our discussion here in New Orleans: the Minnesota Timberwolves have made Ricky Rubio available for the umpteenth time in the history of mankind and George Hill may be interested in returning to the Spurs — thus possibly increasing the level of interest by the Utah Jazz in Jrue Holiday.

Personally, I expect few trades to materialize, even fewer regarding the better players in the league. There is no doubt a lot of teams are interested in moving up or just even into certain parts of the 2017 NBA Draft, but the question is: Will they agree to what are sure to be incredibly high trade demands?

We’ll do our best to post new updates as they happen, but don’t hesitate to point us in the right direction in the comments below if any major news breaks.

UPDATES:

Phil Jackson apparently IS asking for the moon.

Bet the Wolves are far from being the select few in monitoring/keeping an interest in Butler/George.

Could Josh Jackson be the prime reason Ainge lands a Butler or DeAndre Jordan through trade?

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George together? #PopsDream

Pelicans interested in trading for Jared Dudley?

Oh look at him playing!

Jimmy Butler to the Denver Nuggets? Chicago obviously wants Nikola Jokic and pick, but that’s not happening.

Would cross off a potential Jrue Holiday landing spot.

Ugh. Let’s hope this one remains a rumor!

Jonas Valanciunas and Toronto’s late first round pick can be had.

FIRST MAJOR BOMB OF THE NIGHT: Jimmy Butler is going to the Minnesota Timberwolves!
