We’ve arrived at that special time of the year once more, where hope begins to percolate around the entire league. No more mock drafts, it’s time for the real thing.

Despite watching the Warriors utterly flatten all of the competition in the most recent postseason, 60 wrapped presents give a notion of better days ahead, and the 2017 NBA draft promises to be as exciting as it is believed to be deep in talent.

Markelle Fultz is expected to be chosen first by the Philadelphia 76ers and Lonzo Ball to promptly follow next to the Los Angeles Lakers, but after that, it’s anyone’s guess.

The Lakers, 76ers, Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings are all slated to have made at least three picks before the New Orleans Pelicans announce their first selection of the night.

While the franchise has no chance to score lottery talent like a Jonathan Isaac or Josh Jackson, they could find another diamond in the rough... or two at overall picks 40 and 52. Remember, Cheick Diallo was selected 33rd in a rather weak draft class just one year ago.
