Quincy Pondexter made an appearance on ABC30 News out of Fresno, California, and to sports director Tommy Tran, he promised the public would soon learn of his travails. Perhaps more importantly, he was adamant in making up for lost time.
“It’s been unbelievable last two years being hurt, injured,” stated a grinning Pondexter. “We haven’t explained a lot; a lot of that news will come out in the next few months about what’s happened, what’s transpired. But you know what, I’m working my tail off to get healthy. I’m looking forward to this next season. I’m looking forward to redeeming the last two seasons that I’ve missed, and going out there and just playing the game that I love again.”
It sounds like Pondexter will divulge a lot of details as to why he hasn’t been able to take the court since the 2015 playoffs. We’re aware of a few setbacks, with an infection in his knee serving as the latest mishap, but in the dark about everything else.
While the news will be interesting to learn, I’m much more focused on his return, so the fact that the New Orleans Pelicans and Pondexter are ready to be open about the entire situation suggests that Qpon might have finally overcome some big injury hurdle.
“It makes it a lot easier to get up and torture myself through my workouts, knowing that I get to play next to Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and hopefully, we get Jrue Holiday to sign back — who’s very key to our team success. I think we’re going to be right there; we’re going to be one of the top teams in the West. If everything comes together this offseason, we’re healthy and we play the game the right way, I think there’s not many teams that have as much firepower, especially with our two bigs down there that are able to control the game.”
Love the tune, we’re all ready for it happen!
