Anthony Davis proclaims it is time to get back to work and get better

Several other New Orleans Pelicans have already begun to prepare for next season, too.

Despite the 2016-17 regular season wrapping up a mere six weeks ago, Anthony Davis is eager to get back into the gym and start focusing on individual improvement.

“But it’s time to get back to work,” Davis says he is on his way to leave his dog, Zeus, with his trainer. “It’s time to get better.”

Considering Davis posted career-high per game averages in points (28.0) and rebounds (11.8), that’ll be a neat trick for the 2017 First All-NBA team member. Only three other players scored more points and six different big man can say they tallied more rebounds.

If one were to nitpick though, Davis could stand to make strides with his long range perimeter shooting. After converting a below average 32.4% from three-point territory in Alvin Gentry’s inaugural season with the Pelicans, AD slipped to 29.9% in his latest campaign. Among the 232 players who attempted at least 100 three-point shots on the season, Davis posted the 25th worst mark.

According to E’twaun Moore’s Instagram page, he’s been back in the gym since the first of May.

Just as he begun the previous season, Moore could find himself in a starting role with no clear option currently ready to start ahead of him at shooting guard. Last month, he made his intentions known he would pursue the role when he announced he would indeed be eyeing an opportunity to crack the starting five.

“I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll see over the summer. I’m not sure if it’s going to stay like that or it’s going {to be} a starting role. I don’t know. Whatever works best for the team, honestly. To me, who doesn’t want to start and look cool?”

Cheick Diallo took some time off for a long overdue family visit, traveling around Africa during the first half of May, but he’s been seen back inside the Pelicans practice facility often upon his return to New Orleans.

Three Pelicans under contract already in the gym that we’re aware of and the champion of the 2016-17 season has yet to be declared. Thumbs up!
