Let’s cut straight to it, folks: Trevor Ritchie, half of the Big Picture Boys combo, says Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are the best big man duo in NBA league history. HOT TAKE ALERT! (You can find him at @ritchieTMR.)
But why does Trevor make such a statement? Well, the Pelicans beat the Indiana Pacers 117-112 Tuesday night in Indiana with those two leading the way: Anthony Davis had 37 points and 14 rebounds (14-18 FG) and Big Cuz finished with 32 points and 13 rebounds to make the Pels 3-0 on this four-game road trip. It didn’t come easy as the Pelicans gave up the most points in a half in franchise history — Indiana racked up 75 points in the first 24 minutes.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say AD and Boogie are the best ever, but they’ve been great so far this year, further burying a long-standing question from national writers about their compatibility on the floor. Those two are essential to any Pelicans success.
Trevor and I also discuss our differing views of Rajon Rondo and Jameer Nelson, which NBA team is playing the best ball so far this year, what to do with Jrue Holiday and Dante Cunningham’s lack of production.
And, hey, is that Tony Allen playing in the 6th man role?!
