The Bird Calls Podcast Ep. 46: How Pelicans can snap Trail Blazers 16-year home opener winning streak

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Los Angeles Lakers Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans have a crucial matchup tonight against fellow Western playoff contender, the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers enter their home opener against the Pelicanss winners of two of their first three on the schedule, with each of the victories coming in overwhelming fashion. Their only loss — on the second night of a back-to-back — happened because Giannis Antetokounmpo, who put up 44 points, is REALLY good.

We welcome on award winning journalist David Mackay of Blazers Edge to talk the history of these rivals, Portland's love of their hometown superstars, Jusurf Nurkic's assimilation to Terry Stott's offense, as well as the role of the wing players on the Trail Blazers.

Part Two (33:25)

Then in part two Steven Dewald goes deep on the offenisve and defensive structures, explains why we may see Evan Turner on Anthony Davis, and why Meyers Leonard may not match up with Boogie after all?
