The Bird Calls Podcast Ep. 38: Opening week, overcoming loss of Rajon Rondo and differentiating Crawford, Moore and Clark

New Orleans Pelicans basketball is back, but an oven is unfortunately the starting point once again.

Does it feel like deja vu?

Right out of the gates, the New Orleans Pelicans are going to be shorthanded due to injury, and with 10 games on the schedule in the first 17 days, a slower than expected start could be on the horizon.

Despite this, the stars are raring to go — Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins — so, knock on wood, but no one should expect another 1-9 beginning to the season.

While some believe Rajon Rondo missing time will be a good thing, we’re not in that camp. Most of the Pelicans adjusted to playing alongside of him and New Orleans is now down another viable rotation piece.

That’s just too large of a list considering we haven’t even made it to the opener yet!!!

Anyways, those role players still standing are all staring at wonderful opportunities to make their cases for playing time. For instance, listen to who we like among E’Twaun Moore, Ian Clark and Jordan Crawford.

Also, be sure to catch who we would like to see Dell Demps add to the roster via a medical hardship — should the front office go that route, and our predictions for all four games during this opening week in the NBA!

Enjoy, and if you like what you hear, please be sure to rate us!!!
