The NBA is back kids!
Fresh off the shellacking the Memphis Grizzlies gave the Pelicans last Friday night, the New Orleans Pelicans head back to the FedEx Forum with revenge on their minds in what will be the most polarizing season in their short history.
We’ve been asking the same questions all summer:
Will DeMarcus Cousins stay? Will the Pelicans ever win with Anthony Davis? Was Jrue Holiday worth all that money? Will Dell Demps and Alvin Gentry last another year? Does Rajon Rondo have anything left?
Wonder not, Pels fans, the time for answers is at hand!
Lost in this conversation is the equally intriguing roster upheaval the Memphis Grizzlies have undergone. Gone is the Grit N Grind Era, made famous by the Pels new defensive weapon, the 35-year-old “Grindfather,” Tony Allen, Zach Randolph, and Vince Carter.
The team is now in the sole possession of Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, flanked by unheralded or a forgotten NBA support system of Mario Chalmers, Chandler Parsons, JaMychal Green, Andrew Harrison, Tyreke Evans and James Ennis.
The Pelicans enjoyed great success against these same Grizz in their last matchup that really mattered. Demarcus Cousins demoralized Gasol to the tune of 41 and 16, while Gasol managed just 10 and 6. You might remember Demarcus Cousins “thanking” the referees postgame in hilarious fashion.
Here’s to hoping the Pelicans can enjoy similar success Wednesday night.
