Pelicans at Suns preview and game thread: New Orleans likely to welcome Davis and Holiday back

New, comments

Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday and E'Twaun Moore all more likely than not to return to action in the Valley of the Sun.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans (7-17) play the Phoenix Suns (7-16) this evening at the Talking Stick Resort Arena. The game is set to tip-off at 7:30pm and can be seen on either Fox Sports New Orleans or Arizona. It can also be heard on WRNO 99.5FM on the radio.

One day after having just 9 players available, Alvin Gentry is probable to have up to 12 as Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday and E'Twaun Moore are all likely to appear against the Suns. Some may chide the Pelicans for throwing in the towel against the Clippers, but it's not the correct take. Strategic rest days are utilized by many franchises so how is it any different if the Pelicans decide to rest a few nicked up players an additional day? I would much prefer the occasional missed game instead of a hampered player doing worse harm and losing him for a longer time frame.

The Pelicans sit 10 games under .500, not too far off from last year's disappointing pace through the first 24 games when the 2015-16 squad started 6-18. By now I'm sure you've considered the idea that the franchise should focus their attention to next season. As it always seems be the case, disagreements tend to arise and some may even resort to getting personal. Please don't be that guy. We're all fans of the same team, and if you disagree with someone's opinion, be cordial or better yet go find something better to do than belittle or downright attack another's belief.

Thanks and Geaux Pelicans!
