The New Orleans Pelicans are trudging through another preaeason that is at least two games too long. (Please NBA, shorten the preseason and stretch the regular season in the new CBA.) Meanwhile, Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday continues to keep in shape awaiting his eventual return.

An Instagram post from Mike Penberthy shows Jrue Holiday hard at work at North Carolina. Penberthy was an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2014-15 season and now serves as a private shooting coach to Holiday, Paul George, and Khris Middleton among other NBA clients. An additional tidbit of information included in that Instagram post was the timing of Lauren Holiday's brain surgery; it is scheduled for this coming Thursday.

Lauren Holiday's initial due date for their first child was in mid-October. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl on (or before) September 24th. That puts her brain surgery roughly four weeks after birth.

Maybe we shouldn't be surprised that Lauren, an elite athlete in her own right, has recovered from childbirth so quickly. I am absolutely astounded. Let's not get too caught up in what this means for Jrue's return and lose sight of Lauren Holiday's path to this point and the long road to recovery ahead.

Please keep the Holiday family in your thoughts and prayers this week as they proceed through another step of this process.
