The New Orleans Pelicans preseason schedule was just announced at Pelicans.com. It was just days ago that the team decided to go away for the beginning of training camp at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, where the New Orleans Saints have held their training camps the past two summers. Turns out the Pelicans will not spend much time in Louisiana this October whatsoever.
While the Pelicans are the "home team" for three different games only once, on October 23rd, will they play in New Orleans. The long delay getting home will give the Pelicans a lot of time to bond on the road away from potential distractions. Highlighting the preseason schedule is a return to Rupp Arena for Anthony Davis where he will face the Kings and former Kentucky Wildcats DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo.
|Oct 3rd||Indiana Pacers||Bankers Life Fieldhouse|
|Oct 9th||Atlanta Hawks||Jacksonsville Veterans Memorial Arena|
|Oct 12th||Chicago Bulls||United Center|
|Oct 17th||Sacramento Kings||Rupp Arena (Lexington, KY)|
|Oct 19th||Houston Rockets||Toyota Center|
|Oct 21st||Orlando Magic||Amway Center|
|Oct 23rd||Miami Heat||Smoothie King Center|
It's good to see that none of these games fall on a Sunday against a Saints kickoff. However, twice the Pelicans play on Saturday's and the LSU Tigers match-up on the 17th, at home in Death Valley against the rival Florida Gators, could doom for any potential television coverage. Fox Sports New Orleans has not regularly televised preseason games so finding an acceptable stream for these games could prove difficult. Hopefully the Pacers, Bulls, and Rockets will cover their own games in their own building.
